Dionysos Now! enters into a co-production with Spectra Ensemble for the world premiere “THOU!”.
A new composition by Dominique Pauwels, on lyrics by Peter Verhelst and inspired by a philosophical treatise by Ignaas Devisch. Dionysos Now! will provide the polyphony and act as the Greek choir, so this time with a new contemporary work.
World premiere on 2 November at Concertgebouw Brugge.
Second concert on 4 November in St. Jacobskerk Gent.
A final unshakable column trembles fearfully. Geneticists flirt with the idea of reversing the ageing process. Will we completely digitise ourselves in the future? And is this the birth of eternal life? Peter Verhelst wrote a fictional interview with an immortal, for whom artificial death is the great friend, bringing redemption on demand. Actress Louise Bergez, the last immortal in this performance, is joined by the singers of Dionysos Now! Dominique Pauwels’ new music and SPECTRA’s musicians drape a requiem around this monodrama.
